Donald McEown is the co-author of the book Creating Carleton: The Shaping of a University, the story of the creation and transformation of Carleton University.
Creating Carleton was written in partnership with Professor Blair Neatby, and was published in 2002. McEown began his career at Carleton University in 1963, working as the administrative assistant to the Bursar. Throughout his time at Carleton University, McEown has held a variety of positions including secretary of the Board of Governors and assistant to the University President. Secretary Emeritus Donald McEown has served a total of six Presidents during his time at Carleton University.
